Our Special Schools

Under the governance structure of EREA Flexible Schools Ltd, St Edmund’s College (Wahroonga, NSW) and St Gabriel’s School (Castle Hill, NSW) provide exceptional quality special education to young people with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities.

St Edmund’s College is a Year 7-12 co-educational special high school for teenagers with a wide range of disabilities including students with mild to moderate intellectual disability, autism and other sensory impairments.

All students are catered for through an individual program that addresses academic, and personal and emotional wellbeing. The use of technology forms a significant part of the delivery of the educational programs at the College. In addition, there are many co-curricular opportunities such as dance, creative art, music and sport to ensure the school experience is both challenging and rich.

St Gabriel’s was founded 100 years ago as a school for the deaf and broadened its admissions to children with special needs in 2010. These include students who are deaf or hard of hearing; blind or have low vision; with Autism; and intellectual disabilities on the mild to moderate range. We deliver core primary and secondary education, including numeracy and literacy, as well as subjects to develop social skills and communication.

Unlike other special needs services, St Gabriel’s strives to deliver tailored curriculum in a purpose-built environment that enables the most positive outcomes for our students.
